We’ve lifted the travel ban at our nursing home located in Black Notely and taken our residents on a fantastic, virtual “around the world” cruise!
In true cruise ship style, our residents and their families sampled a variety of different delicacies and drinks from 10 countries AND enjoyed an array of sensory experiences and activities at each stop from the comfort of their ‘home from home’.
Sheila Cook, one of our lovely residents said, “I really enjoyed getting to spend time with everyone and sampling all the different food. The sweet bread from Montenegro was delicious and I also enjoyed the burgers and fries when we visited the USA.”
At each destination the home was transformed and themed with sensory experiences, including sand, for beach inspired games , water play and outdoor activities were organised for everyone.Local music was played and the gardens of the home were decorated with flags, beach balls and paddling pools to bring the initiative to life.
Registered Home Manager, Kelly Corrie added, “We wanted to create a memorable experience whilst supporting our residents’ mental and physical wellbeing. It was lovely to see our residents, their loved ones and our staff engaging and interacting as one big Longmead family.”
Ellen ‘Peggy’ Yeend added, “I enjoyed spending time outdoors in the sunshine and experiencing the cruise with my best friend, Carole who also lives at Longmead Court. The cruise was so well organised and we all had a lot of fun.”
